|Biography||Ellen Dassaboute joined the NWS midwifery team in February 2016. She was born and raised in Tennessee. After earning a bachelor of arts degree in international studies at Rhodes College, Ellen joined the Peace Corps, working as a rural community health volunteer in West Africa for two years. She worked for four years as a program coordinator with USAID projects, focusing on AIDS relief and immunization initiatives. She studied nursing at Emory University, earning a masters of science in nursing & midwifery in 2011. Ellen worked as a midwife for four years in Knoxville before joining Northside Women's Specialists.
When asked why she chose midwifery, Ellen said “ I wanted to further my passion of working with and supporting women”. Her professional areas of interest include adolescent healthcare, midwifery training, and continuing education for evidence-based practices.
When not at work, Ellen enjoys spending time with her daughter, going to movies, reading, and yoga.
